Happy Birthday Preston!

My little Preston turned 4 a couple of days ago and I can't believe how big he is getting.  We spent the morning at the zoo and then celebrated by having cake and ice cream after dinner.  Now that he's 4 he keeps saying that he'll be turning 5 soon.

Preston age 4

Here are some fun stories and facts about Preston:
- Whenever we ask him his favorite color he lists about 5 (usually peach and blue is included).
- He could eat a bowl of cereal for every meal if we let him.
- A couple of months ago we were watching the horses eat that live behind us.  I asked Preston, "What do horses eat?"  He quickly responded, "brown sugar."
- One afternoon Preston and I were reading a book and he was just staring at me.  I asked him what was up and he said, "I want to have big teeth like you."  I told him that one day his little teeth will fall out and bigger ones will grow in.  He was so excited that he said, "I want them to all fall out on my birthday."
- He loves anything with wheels and he already can't wait to drive.
- He is always asking me what time it is and is obsessed with letters and numbers.  While we were shopping the other day he kept having me count by 2's, 5's, and 10's.

Preston was looking forward to turning 4 and having birthday cake for about a month before his birthday.  I got the idea to make a number 4 cake from Pinterest and it was so easy to make.

Sam and I got him a toy clock for his birthday.  After he opened it he showed it to the video camera and said, "I love this."  He then hugged it tight.

Happy Birthday Spencer!

My baby turned 2 today and I can't believe how big he is getting.

Here are a few things about my Spencer at 2 years old:
- He is a big cuddler and loves to give hugs.
- He is really tall for his age, people are always asking if my two boys are twins.
- He is very temperamental, he can get grumpy really fast and stay that way for awhile.
- It seems like he always needs to be eating something (notice the apple slice in the picture).
- He loves doing anything his older brother is doing.  I'm pretty positive Preston will get the both of them into trouble a lot over the next few years.
- He loves to eat anything that involves rice and chocolate (but not necessarily together).
- He still isn't talking (following in his brother's footsteps), but he knows several signs.

 Making the birthday cake:

Spencer was not happy that he couldn't get the box open.

Opening presents, Preston was really unhappy that nothing was for him.

He wasn't to happy here because he ended up touching the flame on the candle.

Happy Birthday Sam!

My husband's birthday was last Friday and it was the perfect excuse to try some more cake decorating. I decided to try and make one of those ruffle cakes that I keep seeing on pinterest.  It was surprisingly a lot easier than I thought it would be.  Next time I will probably try something else on top but I really liked how the ruffles turned out.

My first ruffle cake.

I tried to make a 33 out of the candles.

Preston Turns 3!

My little Preston turned 3 today.  I can't believe how big he getting and how much he is able to do now.

Preston age 3

Fun facts about Preston at age 3:
- his favorite color is green
- he asks for cookies and bubbles at least 3 times a day.
- he can now say about 175 words (big improvement from 6 months ago when he could only say 20).
- his favorite movie is Cars.  He loves all types of cars and trucks and especially motorcycles.  He is always pointing out bikes wherever we go and gets excited when we pass the motorcycle store on the way to the freeway.  It seems like he always has a car in one of his hands and he has the hardest time sharing them with his brother.
- He knows all of the colors and most of his letters. He is aslo pretty good counter.  The other day I told him to count his cars and he said "1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 11."   Then he had the biggest grin on his face.

The first thing Preston said to me today when I got him up in the morning was "mcqueen cake," and I said "yep today is the day we get to make your mcqueen cake."  Pretty much everyday when I get him in the morning he says "daddy work," and I reply "yep daddy is at work."  He is such a daddy's boy.

This is the first time that I have attempted something like this and I really like how it turned out.

Opening presents - Spencer thought everything was for him too.

We surprised him with a bike for his birthday.  The grin on his face when he first saw it was priceless.

Outside on his bike for the first time.
