First Day of Preschool

This is Preston's second year of preschool and he is loving it. Every time we see a bus somewhere he immediately want to look for his bus driver.  Every school day Spencer is so jealous and upset when he can't get on the bus too.  The one thing I am grateful for is the chance he has to get our and be with other kids his age and socialize.  This is something that he needs and craves - it has helped his speech so much.

Married for 6 years!

This past August Sam and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary.  I just can't believe how fast it has gone by.  I am so incredibly lucky to have found someone that is so so patient with me, and who is such a good father to our boys.  They just love him and can't wait everyday for him to come home from work.

Date night celebrating our anniversary.

Happy Birthday Sam!

I know, Sam's birthday was last July and I'm finally writing about it.  I think I just needed a break from it and now I'm ready to blog about a bunch of stuff.

Sam turned 34 this year and I decided to make him his favorite cake - yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

The boys also loved the cake.

Happy Birthday Preston!

My little Preston turned 4 a couple of days ago and I can't believe how big he is getting.  We spent the morning at the zoo and then celebrated by having cake and ice cream after dinner.  Now that he's 4 he keeps saying that he'll be turning 5 soon.

Preston age 4

Here are some fun stories and facts about Preston:
- Whenever we ask him his favorite color he lists about 5 (usually peach and blue is included).
- He could eat a bowl of cereal for every meal if we let him.
- A couple of months ago we were watching the horses eat that live behind us.  I asked Preston, "What do horses eat?"  He quickly responded, "brown sugar."
- One afternoon Preston and I were reading a book and he was just staring at me.  I asked him what was up and he said, "I want to have big teeth like you."  I told him that one day his little teeth will fall out and bigger ones will grow in.  He was so excited that he said, "I want them to all fall out on my birthday."
- He loves anything with wheels and he already can't wait to drive.
- He is always asking me what time it is and is obsessed with letters and numbers.  While we were shopping the other day he kept having me count by 2's, 5's, and 10's.

Preston was looking forward to turning 4 and having birthday cake for about a month before his birthday.  I got the idea to make a number 4 cake from Pinterest and it was so easy to make.

Opening presents.

Sam and I got him a toy clock for his birthday.  After he opened it he showed it to the video camera and said, "I love this."  He then hugged it tight.

The Aquarium

A couple of weeks ago Sam's company had a company party at the new aquarium.  I was so excited to take the boys (and also because it was free for us).  Here are some pictures from our trip.

We ate lunch in a room that had this big glass window into one of the tanks.

This is my favorite picture.  He was so excited to see a penguin.

Teacher Gifts

As the school year was ending I wanted to make something for Preston's preschool teacher and his speech pathologist.  I got this idea from SVG cuts inspiration section entitled "Back to School Teacher Gift" by Amy McCabe.  The instructions to make this teacher gift can be found here.  Surprisingly they were really easy to make and I really liked how they turned out.

Memorial Day: 2014

Happy Memorial Day! We have made it a tradition to take flowers and see our grandparents graves each year.   I'm hoping my boys will gain an appreciation for their ancestors.  I am also so grateful for  those who gave their lives to protect this great country we get to live in.

Spencer did not want his picture taken at all.  It seems like he always starts crying when I whip out the camera.  All he wanted to do was run around and play with all of the fun stuff on the grave sites, especially the pinwheels.

My Grandma Lanier.  It looks like Spencer is putting flowers down but he's actually trying to steal them.

We had lunch at the City Creek Mall and the boys loved the waterfall.  They actually love everything about this mall.

A Mother's Day mini album

A couple of months before mother's day I decided that I wanted to make our moms a mini album.  I don't think I have ever spend more time on a project than this, but I love how it turned out.

The cover of this mini album is based off of the Silhouette Card from SVGs Call me later SVG Kit.

The apron is from the Apron Card from SVGs Farmhouse Kitchen SVG Kit.

Botanical Tea

I've been making some crafts to decorate my kitchen and this is the latest thing that I have made.

I made this tea pot a couple of weeks ago. It's from SVG Cuts Farmhouse Kitchen SVG Kit and I love how it turned out.  The paper I used is Botanical Tea by Graphic 45.

Discovery Center Fun

For Spencer's birthday we took the boys to the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum.  I couldn't believe how much they had there for the kids to do. I was really impressed and the boys loved it.  Here are a couple of pictures from that day.

The first area for the kids to play had tons of balls and places for them to go.  We probably could have stayed here the entire time.

There were tubes everywhere for the balls to either go down or be sucked up.

The boys were pretty disappointed that this wasn't a slide.

The boys driving a car.  Every time we go somewhere Preston always asks to drive the car.  When we tell him he is too little he is so disappointed.  It's going to be a long 12.5 years for him.

Spencer and I riding a horse.  Preston wanted nothing to do with this.  He was so scared of it.

Sam and Spencer being newscasters.

The boys flying the helicopter.  There was also a plane inside and Preston loved pretending to fly it.  I'm convinced that Preston is going to be a driver of something when he is older.

Playing in the sand pit.

Spencer playing in a log cabin.

They also had a water area, grocery store, a science area, and many more areas that I didn't get pictures of.  I thought this was well worth the money we spent to get in.
